Siegel.<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Paris is Burning<\/em> (1990) \u00e9s un documental que va donar visibilitat a la hist\u00f2ria i codis dels <em>Balls<\/em> al barri de Harlem de Nova York dels anys vuitanta. Originats als anys seixanta, els <em>Balls<\/em> eren concursos de <em>freaks<\/em> amb plataformes, entre l\u2019estil de la subhasta, el concurs de bellesa i la desfilada d\u2019<em>haute couture<\/em>. Jurat, trofeus, categories. Un espai fet a mida per poder no nom\u00e9s ser, sin\u00f3 triomfar. En origen aquestes passarel\u00b7les van ser transitades amb orgull per <em>drag queens<\/em> que feien del cosir plomes i <em>lentejuelas<\/em> un art i eren valorades per la minuciositat de la seva artesania, tant en el vestir com en el caminar i el presentar-se a com a tals. Assolien \u00e8xit social de manera semblant a la que ho feien els arist\u00f2crates a la cort de Llu\u00eds XIV. L\u2019aristocr\u00e0cia de Versalles \u2013 que amb el seu moure\u2019s per la vida constitueix una proto-forma del ballet cl\u00e0ssic \u2013 es passava els dies justificant la seva exist\u00e8ncia treballant-se el <em>postureig<\/em> fins a l\u2019\u00faltim detall, amb l\u2019objectiu de presentar-se davant del rei i el poble amb una artificialitat que havia de passar per paradoxalment natural, per primera pell que justifiqu\u00e9s el seu privilegi. Sense m\u00e9s favor a assolir que el dels seus semblants, les <em>drags<\/em> dels seixanta aspiraven amb el seu <em>postureig<\/em> a construir-se una c\u00e0scara inexpugnable, una primera pell armada fins a l\u2019\u00faltim detall que proteg\u00eds una sensaci\u00f3 real per\u00f2 molt vulnerable: que elles eren all\u00f2, i&#8230; <em>\u00a1zas: toma etiqueta!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Paris is Burning<\/em> mostrava els <em>Balls<\/em> en el seu format dels anys vuitanta, convertits en refugi i estructura familiar pels col\u00b7leccionistes d\u2019opressions: Joves negres, llatins, efeminats, homosexuals i lesbianes, transsexuals i pobres. <em>What else?<\/em> Emmirallant-se en el distant m\u00f3n de la gent rica, heterosexual i blanca \u2013 el m\u00f3n de les portades de Vogue \u2013 als <em>Balls<\/em> podien somiar el triomf que la societat els negava per quintuplicat. La creaci\u00f3 de clans interns; l\u2019aparici\u00f3 espont\u00e0nia de cada cop m\u00e9s categories per donar cabuda a la <em>performance<\/em> de tothom o fins i tot la creaci\u00f3 d\u2019un argot propi mostren a <em>Paris is Burning<\/em> com la condici\u00f3 dels <em>Balls<\/em> com a espai de superviv\u00e8ncia \u2013 on fantasia i realitat es confonguessin per donar sentit i prop\u00f2sit al dia a dia \u2013 havia esdevingut essencial.<\/p>\n<p>Judson Church \u00e9s el nom de l\u2019esgl\u00e9sia de Nova York on, tamb\u00e9 des dels seixanta, un seguit de creadors en dansa van comen\u00e7ar a contestar tot all\u00f2 conegut fins llavors com a dansa per buscar formes m\u00e9s \u2018aut\u00e8ntiques\u2019 de coreografiar i presentar el moviment. Bressol de la dansa postmoderna, Judson Church va ser punt de trobada d\u2019Yvonnne Rainier, Steve Paxton, Deborah Hay i companyia. Desclassificats per voluntat pr\u00f2pia i ferris defensors de la creaci\u00f3 com a recerca i no com a producte comercial; volien evitar ser entreteniment a tota costa, ja que entretenir hagu\u00e9s estat igual a tapar les vergonyes del seu context: Vietnam, els fets de Berkeley, assassinats de JFK i Martin Luther King. Judson Church va ser el lloc de trobada de rebels nihilistes que buscaven noves maneres de relacionar-se amb l\u2019art per l\u2019art, a\u00efllant-lo del m\u00f3n, no volent significar perqu\u00e8 no hi havia res m\u00e9s a dir, enlloc on anar. La dansa, en general, es va beneficiar sens dubte de les seves idees i recerques, tant a nivell t\u00e8cnic \u2013 pensem tan sols en el <em>contact-improvisation<\/em>, sorgit deu anys m\u00e9s tard a partir de les investigacions de Steve Paxton iniciades en aquell claustre \u00a0\u2013 com a nivell compositiu i conceptual. Res ha estat el mateix des de llavors.<\/p>\n<p>De la pregunta: \u201cQu\u00e8 hagu\u00e9s passat si els nois de <em>Paris is Burning<\/em> haguessin baixat a Judson Church?\u201d surt (M)imosa. Dos mons, diversos fils comuns. La condici\u00f3 TRANS, per comen\u00e7ar. Transgressora, transvestida, trans-tornada, transposada. Un gran contrast: Si un fou una nova llavor, bomba conceptual i contracultural sorgida del cor burg\u00e8s, liberal i eminentment blanc de l\u2019<em>upper east-side<\/em> de la ciutat; l\u2019altre s\u2019originava amb l\u2019energia d\u2018una fuita, expulsat de les esquerdes del clavegueram social i amb un programa precisament anti-conceptual per mim\u00e8tic, hiperdecorat i significant fins a la llaga. I un devenir: la transformaci\u00f3 en producte i la parcial inoculaci\u00f3 de l\u2019\u00e8xit un cop absorbits per les ind\u00fastries culturals, a partir dels anys noranta.<\/p>\n<p>Per una banda, l\u2019\u00e0lbum <em>Vogue<\/em> de Madonna i la gira que en segu\u00ed l\u2019any 1990 van treure el fenomen dels <em>Balls<\/em> de la marginalitat per assolir la tant desitjada condici\u00f3 de producte pop (i si pensem en les <em>drag queens<\/em> dels seixanta, avui han escapat els bars d\u2019ambient per ocupar espais de <em>prime-time<\/em> en formats tant actuals per estridents com el <em>RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race<\/em>). Per l\u2019altra, Anna Halprin (una de les primeres a Judson), ja veia l\u2019any 1991 com la dansa postmoderna de Nova York havia abandonat l\u2019ideal de l\u2019art per l\u2019art per transitar de tornada a un fer m\u00e9s ritual i m\u00edtic. <em>\u201cWhere else can it go?\u201d<\/em> \u2013 es preguntava \u2013 <em>\u201cParticularly with the world in the social, environmental, and political state it is in today, in such a state of ultimate crisis, postmodern dance is going to have to change to deal with more realistic content\u201d<\/em>. Aquestes paraules haguessin pogut ser dites ahir mateix; i les superestructures d\u2019opressi\u00f3 econ\u00f2mica pol\u00edtica, social i patriarcal all\u00ed segueixen estant per qui les vulgui veure. All\u00f2 postmodern sembla, com el capitalisme neoliberal i colonial que en origen volia contravenir, un crepuscle en etern suspens.<\/p>\n<p>(M)imosa \u00e9s un exercici antropol\u00f2gic de creaci\u00f3 col\u00b7lectiva que s\u2019apropa a la hist\u00f2ria de forma no-progressiva. Antropologies similars: <em>Sch\u00f6neitsabend<\/em> del duo austr\u00edac-neerland\u00e8s Florentina Holzinger\/Vincent Riebeek (2015). Campions de la po\u00e8tica de la descaradura, en aquesta pe\u00e7a busquen Nijinsky ballant <em>Sch\u00e9h\u00e9rezade<\/em> amb dildos, mirant de despertar un eco de l\u2019efecte que el ballar\u00ed devia tenir en el seu context \u2013 per la seva destresa t\u00e8cnica, l\u2019erotisme de la seva androg\u00ednia, la radicalitat del seu idealisme. M\u00e9s a prop destaca <em>Anarchy<\/em>, de Semolina Tomlic i Societat Doctor Alonso (2016), un homenatge al moviment anarquista dels vuitanta a Barcelona on les relacions de poder entre audi\u00e8ncia i int\u00e8rpret \u2013 i les diferents llibertats de cadasc\u00fa \u2013 s\u00f3n posades a prova amb un acompanyament de 40 guitarres el\u00e8ctriques, una per espectador.<\/p>\n<p>Totes aquestes propostes s\u00f3n hereves de la tradici\u00f3 postmoderna i de la dels <em>Balls<\/em> per la banda que els creadors fan el que els hi surt del g\u00e8nere, tant a nivell compositiu com de contingut. Per\u00f2 tamb\u00e9 s\u00f3n mostres d\u2019una moda molt actual: el <em>reenactment<\/em>, la reanimaci\u00f3 de l\u2019arxiu dels elements als que un s\u2019aproxima filtrant-lo pel teixit del nostre entorn contemporani. Sembla que necessitem mirar enrere amb eines del present per falta d\u2019esperan\u00e7a a l\u2019hora de creure en un futur. El material d\u2019experi\u00e8ncies passades, tal com diu el col\u00b7laborador d\u2019Ang\u00e8lica Liddell Lenard Boyd Schurmann, \u00e9s re-compost a (M)imosa per \u201cconstituir un marc virtual que permeti l\u2019emersi\u00f3 d\u2019un espai performatiu determinat\u201d que faci present la condici\u00f3 d\u2019espai d\u2019alteritat que es troba en l\u2019ess\u00e8ncia dels <em>Balls<\/em> i de Judson Church. Ni autenticitat, necessitat ni provocaci\u00f3 es troben ja al centre de la proposta.
