{"id":189884,"date":"2024-03-10T13:04:13","date_gmt":"2024-03-10T13:04:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/develop.mercatflors.cat\/?post_type=blog&#038;p=189884"},"modified":"2024-03-11T13:03:03","modified_gmt":"2024-03-11T13:03:03","slug":"la-sydney-dance-company-neoclassicisme-en-estat-pur-per-jordi-ribot-thunnissen","status":"publish","type":"blog","link":"https:\/\/develop.mercatflors.cat\/en\/blog\/la-sydney-dance-company-neoclassicisme-en-estat-pur-per-jordi-ribot-thunnissen\/","title":{"rendered":"La Sydney Dance Company &#8211; neoclassicisme &#8216;en estat pur&#8217;, per Jordi Ribot Thunnissen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>El pas de la Sydney Dance Company per Barcelona ens brinda l\u2019oportunitat de veure com tres core\u00f2grafs ben diferents entre si &#8211; Rafael Bonachela, director de la companyia des de 2009, i els seus convidats Marina Mascarell i Antony Hamilton &#8211; es relacionen des d\u2019urg\u00e8ncies particulars i modes de fer ben contemporanis amb el paradigma po\u00e8tic del ballet. Recordar la gana d\u2019experimentaci\u00f3 i els ideals de llibertat, solidaritat i emancipaci\u00f3 que van guiar els primers passos de companyies com la Sydney Dance Company a partir dels anys seixanta del segle passat pot ajudar, tamb\u00e9, a col\u00b7locar les seves propostes en una llum tant apreciativa de la seva qualitat com cr\u00edtica amb la posici\u00f3 de privilegi que ocupen en el seu context local.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019ambici\u00f3 fundacional de la Sydney Dance Company, nascuda l\u2019any 1969, \u00e9s semblant a la d\u2019altres grups que es van llan\u00e7ar (a partir del final de la segona guerra mundial i al cant\u00f3 occidental del tel\u00f3 d\u2019acer) a modular els codis de la dansa cl\u00e0ssica per pujar a escena el <em>shift <\/em>cultural i generacional que marcava el seu temps. La llista \u00e9s llarga, per\u00f2 segurament una de les companyies europees que m\u00e9s van servir de model per la resta en aquest sentit fou la Nederlands Dans Theater, nascuda a finals dels anys cinquanta. Formada inicialment per un grup de joves int\u00e8rprets rebels que es van escindir del Ballet Nacional Neerland\u00e8s, la \u2018companyia que va canviar Europa\u2019 va revolucionar el panorama dans\u00edstic occidental amb un projecte d\u2019esperit radicalment <em>contemporani<\/em> que jugava a tensar i pervertir moltes de les convencions del ballet cl\u00e0ssic sense renunciar a la seva t\u00e8cnica &#8211; ni al virtuosisme <em>espectacular<\/em> que l\u2019acompanyava. Les primeres coreografies de l\u2019NDT combinaven aix\u00ed el ballet amb gestos i ritmes provinents de la dansa moderna i la cultura popular, en aquell moment representada pel jazz i el swing; abra\u00e7aven una est\u00e8tica atractiva per un p\u00fablic de nova generaci\u00f3 i buscaven tensar la frontera d\u2019all\u00f2 que era acceptable per la dansa esc\u00e8nica (la coreografia de 1969 <em>Mutations<\/em>, de Glen Tetley i Hans van Manen, per exemple, va propulsar la fama internacional de la companyia fent pujar a escena els ballarins completament nus). Nota al peu: Una an\u00e8cdota que serveix d\u2019exemple dels vasos comunicants entre l\u2019NDT i la m\u00e9s jove Sydney Dance Company \u00e9s el pas breu d\u2019un altre d\u2019aquells primers rebels neerlandesos, Jaap Flier, per la direcci\u00f3 de la companyia australiana l\u2019any 1975.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En origen, doncs, companyies com la NDT o la Sydney Dance Company s\u00f3n marcadament neocl\u00e0ssiques. Tot rep\u00e0s hist\u00f2ric sobre el neoclassicisme en dansa ha d\u2019incloure necess\u00e0riament una menci\u00f3 a l\u2019aventura po\u00e8tica d\u2019Els Ballets Russos a primeries del segle passat, i la influ\u00e8ncia que van tenir molts dels seus integrants en la posterior aparici\u00f3 de companyies com les que repasso en aquest article. En aquest sentit, he de ressaltar aqu\u00ed i sobretot a Marie Rambert, fundadora de la Rambert Dance Company l\u2019any 1926 (on Rafael Bonachela faria carrera com a int\u00e8rpret i core\u00f2graf primerenc d\u00e8cades m\u00e9s tard). Sobre els mateixos corrents de pensament que van animar tots els -ismes dels anys vint, i gr\u00e0cies a la iniciativa de Rambert i altres com un llavors joven\u00edssim George Balanchine, el ballet va descobrir gradualment el seu valor com un medi essencialment <em>modernista<\/em>, \u00e9s a dir: lliure de tot deute amb la representaci\u00f3 fidel o aut\u00e8ntica de cap realitat donada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I dic essencialment perqu\u00e8 el paradigma esc\u00e8nic del ballet cl\u00e0ssic es fixa, fent encara un altre pas enrere en el temps, sota el jou de la mentalitat burgesa i heteropatriarcal del p\u00fablic que va aplaudir el g\u00e8nere del Ballet Rom\u00e0ntic a mitjans del segle XIX. Un aplaudiment motivat, precisament, per veure en aquella forma de dansa una art femenina i seductora, buida de tot significat <em>positiu<\/em>. El projecte po\u00e8tic del neoclassicisme abra\u00e7a aix\u00ed a totes les core\u00f2grafes i core\u00f2grafs que, a trav\u00e9s del temps i fins als nostres dies, s\u2019han aprofitat d\u2019aquest mutis per emancipar-se de tota necessitat de significar quelcom concret. Tant formal com emocional, tant superficial com profunda, tant muda com potencialment eloq\u00fcent: la dansa neocl\u00e0ssica representa aquells modes d\u2019escriptura coreogr\u00e0fica que &#8211; fent \u00fas de la base t\u00e8cnica del ballet i abra\u00e7ant la condici\u00f3 d\u2019artefactes seductors dels cossos que l\u2019operen &#8211; vehiculen el seu impacte en l\u2019audi\u00e8ncia d\u2019una manera sempre ambigua, sublim i hipn\u00f2tica, poc clara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Potser a aix\u00f2 es refereix la Sydney Dance Company quan descriu l\u2019estil de Rafael Bonachela com a una exploraci\u00f3 del moviment \u2018en estat pur\u2019, resultant en una dansa \u2018incandescent, on l\u2019energia i la tensi\u00f3 muscular es combinen amb un alt nivell de sensibilitat emocional\u2019. Criat a La Garriga en un entorn familiar on no es respirava dansa per cap cant\u00f3, Bonachela va descobrir en la versi\u00f3 televisada de <em>Fame!<\/em> la seva fascinaci\u00f3 per aquesta disciplina. Amb el suport dels pares i un mestre que va veure en el Rafael de quinze anys un potencial a descobrir, va poder combinar l\u2019escola amb classes de dansa fins a entrar a formar part de l\u2019An\u00f2nima Imperial com a int\u00e8rpret abans d\u2019haver-se pogut permetre mai el cost d\u2019una entrada per veure la companyia en directe. D\u2019all\u00ed, va fer el salt r\u00e0pidament cap a la Rambert de Londres i posteriorment, despr\u00e9s d\u2019una llarga carrera com a ballar\u00ed, a la Sydney Dance Company l\u2019any 2006 &#8211; primer com a artista resident i tres anys m\u00e9s tard com a director art\u00edstic. En el cas de Bonachela \u2018moviment en estat pur\u2019 no vol dir, com no ho volien ser els experiments de la NDT dels anys seixanta, fidel a una t\u00e8cnica determinada, una dansa neta, depurada o cristal\u00b7lina, sin\u00f3 precisament pura en el seu embrutiment, en la seva llibertat del moviment de ser moviment i prou i de la t\u00e8cnica de deixar-se influir per gestos, ritmes, i idees <em>altres<\/em> al servei d\u2019un efecte tant formalment est\u00e8tic com carregat d\u2019humanitat. En el seu estil particular veiem com l\u2019esperit neocl\u00e0ssic convida a pujar a escena una energia de caire popular i comercial que l\u2019han fet atractiu al llarg de la seva carrera tant pel ballet de l\u2019\u00d2pera de Par\u00eds com per Kylie Minogue o Tina Turner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019estil d\u2019escriptura coreogr\u00e0fica de Marina Mascarell, en canvi, reivindica l\u2019abstracci\u00f3 i la disponibilitat psicof\u00edsica que la t\u00e8cnica aporta als int\u00e8rprets per imprimir sobre totes les seves peces una mirada determinadament feminista. Tensant una altra corda de la convenci\u00f3 vuitcentista, Mascarell desconstrueix en peces com <em>The Shell, A Ghost, The Host &amp; The Lyrebird <\/em>la jerarquia entre core\u00f2grafa i int\u00e8rprets i fa a tothom co-responsable del seu devenir. Ent\u00e9n el proc\u00e9s de creaci\u00f3, aix\u00ed, com un entramat de relacions on l\u2019escolta i la cura pels altres \u00e9s tan important com la seva visi\u00f3 sobre el c\u00f2mput, i on el significat que cada artefacte pugui vehicular en un sentit o un altre dep\u00e8n tamb\u00e9 de la implicaci\u00f3 i disponibilitat psicof\u00edsica del p\u00fablic. Mascarell es reapropia aix\u00ed i de nou d\u2019aquell mutis original de la dansa cl\u00e0ssica, esc\u00e8nica i occidental per\u00f2 a la seva manera, reivindicant-lo no sols com a esc\u00e8nicament potent, sin\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 com a existencialment i pol\u00edticament necessari en el context present: far\u00edem b\u00e9 de practicar aquest tipus d\u2019escolta emp\u00e0tica en tots els \u00e0mbits de la vida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Convidar a Mascarell i a Antony Hamilton, director art\u00edstic de la companyia Chunky Moves des de 2018, denota com la Sydney Dance Company vol seguir en contacte amb el que passa al seu voltant. Chunky Moves, de fet, neix als anys noranta amb la voluntat de trencar els motlles est\u00e8tics llavors ja consolidats per agents com la Sydney Dance Company. Hamilton \u00e9s, a banda, una persona molt vocal en la defensa del reconeixement dels drets dels pobles originals (First Peoples) d\u2019Austr\u00e0lia, i com a director de Chunky Moves s\u2019ha dedicat a revisar el rol i la responsabilitat que una companyia com la seva t\u00e9 en relaci\u00f3 al teixit social i cultural del seu entorn m\u00e9s directe. Des d\u2019una perspectiva m\u00e9s transversal i circular, Hamilton es fa preguntes sobre el valor de l\u2019\u00e8xit, o qu\u00e8 el defineix &#8211; preguntes que tamb\u00e9 ressonen en la seva pe\u00e7a <em>Forever &amp; Ever<\/em>, on alta i baixa cultura, coreografia exigent, m\u00fasica techno i alta costura s\u00f3n barrejades per celebrar est\u00e8tiques, gestos i formes de ser i estar que provenen del carrer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A la seva web, la Sydney Dance Company s\u2019autodefineix com a companyia de dansa <em>contempor\u00e0nia<\/em> &#8211; un terme altament problem\u00e0tic que no nom\u00e9s amaga de forma un xic barroera el seu parentesc amb la tradici\u00f3 del ballet sin\u00f3 que demostra com, en el fons, en la seva comprensi\u00f3 del propi medi com a lliure i emancipat tamb\u00e9 \u00e9s hereva de la cara m\u00e9s fosca de la mateixa. Perqu\u00e8 tant la dansa contempor\u00e0nia com la neocl\u00e0ssica s\u2019han conf\u00f3s massa sovint amb llenguatges universals, per sobre del b\u00e9 i del mal en la seva capacitat de fusionar-se amb influ\u00e8ncies d\u2019arreu. Una tend\u00e8ncia que amaga una actitud na\u00eff i sovint perpetuadora de la imatge que tot all\u00f2 provinent de la vella Europa \u00e9s la norma amb la que tothom s\u2019hauria de relacionar. Recon\u00e8ixer el seu lloc en la tradici\u00f3 neocl\u00e0ssica em serveix, en canvi, per celebrar l\u2019immens valor de les propostes de la companyia sense fer ombra a altres tradicions i fen\u00f2mens. El pou de fascinaci\u00f3 que pot despertar l\u2019ambig\u00fcitat del neoclassicisme \u00e9s insondable. El dibuixar de danses sobre aquell mutis dualista d\u2019antuvi permet pujar a escena espectacles tant diversos i visualment potents com els que es podran observar aquests dies al Mercat &#8211; i en la seva vocaci\u00f3 d\u2019obrir-se sempre a la <em>contemporane\u00eftat <\/em>(mentre ho faci en el seu sentit m\u00e9s literalment progressista) es pot reivindicar com un dels productes culturals d\u2019occident del que podem estar m\u00e9s obertament orgullosos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong>Jordi Ribot Thunnissen<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>La SYDNEY DANCE COMPANY presenta <a href=\"https:\/\/develop.mercatflors.cat\/espectacle\/ascent\/\">&#8216;Ascent&#8217; (del 14 al 16 de mar\u00e7)<\/a> i <a href=\"https:\/\/develop.mercatflors.cat\/espectacle\/impermanence\/\">&#8216;Impermanence&#8217; (19 i 20 de mar\u00e7)<\/a> al Mercat de les Flors.
